Managing Director, Asia
Alex joined Augentius in 2013 as the Managing Director for Asia. He is responsible for managing client relationships in the region and for the ongoing strategic development of the Asian business.
Alex has spent 12 years in Asia including the last six in Singapore. Over the course of that time, he has been involved in Wealth Management advising clients on both an advisory and discretionary basis. Latterly, in Asset Management, he has had responsibility for managing distribution, product development, structuring, administration and investor relations for both traditional and alternative asset managers.
Alex is a Director of a number of group companies and client funds and serves on the boards of various asset management companies.
Managing Director, Augentius Compliance
With over two decades’ experience in the Compliance industry (eight years working in the UK regulator) and heading up the Augentius Compliance team, Arafat is one of the most experienced managers in the industry. He has worked as a Compliance Manager for a number of major fund management groups across both traditional and alternative sectors – including property funds. Arafat has also provided consultancy services to a wide range of managers on behalf of one of the UK’s major compliance consultancy groups.
As a legal professional, Arafat has a variety of technical qualifications, allied to many years of practical experience within the investment management industry; providing clients with the pragmatic advice and assistance needed to overcome an ever-changing environment.
Group Head of Marketing and Communications
As one of the Founders of Augentius, David has over 40 years’ experience in the Financial Services and Funds industry. He joined Augentius in 2002 and has been responsible for the growth of the business, initially as Head of Sales, and more recently managing the Group’s global marketing initiatives.
David has a master’s degree in Business Administration. He is active with both the BVCA and Invest Europe and is a regular speaker at industry conferences and events. In addition, David was very involved with the development and implementation of the AIFMD, providing evidence to ESMA, and working together with both the FSA and UK Treasury on issues relating to the Depositary. David continues to be actively involved in regulatory matters.
Client Services Director, Guernsey
David is a Chartered Management Accountant, Chartered Secretary and a member of the Senior Management Team of the Augentius Group. David joined Augentius in 2015 as a Director of our Guernsey business and is responsible for all client servicing and operations in the Channel Islands.
David has been employed in the Offshore Fund Administration industry since 1998. He has had numerous operational and senior management roles, with both institutional and privately-owned fund administration businesses. This included ten years working for BC Partners in London and Guernsey, where he established their Guernsey middle office.
In addition to professional qualifications, David has a master’s degree in Corporate Governance and Administration, a master’s degree in Basin Evolution and Dynamics and a BSc in Applied Geology.
Managing Director, Depositary
Dermot was appointed Managing Director of Augentius Depositary Company Limited in June 2015. As an investment funds and securities lawyer, Dermot has gained significant experience in funds management, fund administration, depositary and legal services in: Ireland, UK, Australia, Gibraltar and Spain. He has considerable experience in advising on mutual funds and other investment products and services in a multitude of countries.
Before joining Augentius, Dermot worked at King Wood Mallesons and Allianz Global Investors in Australia and at Maples and Calder and Northern Trust in Ireland.
Dermot has a BA in Law and Spanish and is admitted as a solicitor in Ireland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales, New South Wales and Gibraltar.
He has been authorized by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission as a responsible manager of registered investment schemes, by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission as a director of experienced investor funds and by the Financial Conduct Authority for controlled functions CF1 (Director) and CF3 (Chief Executive).
Managing Director, Luxembourg
Duncan joined Augentius in 2013. He is an experienced Chartered Accountant with a fund services background gained from senior management roles within Asset Management and third-party fund administration companies in Luxembourg, Ireland and the UK.
He has been a resident in Luxembourg for over 20 years and has held a number of senior operational management roles overseeing fund administration, transfer agency and custody/depositary oversight; at both niche third-party administrators as well as large global banks. This has included both HSBC and BNP Paribas; bringing experience from across the Luxembourg Fund industry.
Duncan has served as a Director of Luxembourg Funds and Investment Management Companies covering long only, fund of fund, hedge and private equity investment strategies.
Head of UK Client Services
Gareth is our Head of UK Client Services and has over 15 years’ experience working in the Financial Services industry. He has a BSc in Business Economics and qualified with PwC in 2002 working within the Assurance and Business Advisory team – where he gained significant experience providing services to offshore Fund Managers.
After taking a year out of work to travel, Gareth joined JPMorgan to help set up an over-the-counter derivatives valuation team. In just under four years the operation grew to over 150 staff providing around-the-clock global valuation services to JPMorgan’s clients.
Gareth joined Augentius in 2008 managing a team of accountants in the London office. His team in London has grown steadily and in 2014 he was made head of the UK team which included responsibility for the Belfast Client Service Team.
Outside of work Gareth enjoys following rugby as well as political and economic affairs.
Head of Client Services, Asia
Gary joined Augentius in 2016 as Head of Client Services, Asia. He has extensive experience working in the Private Equity Fund Administration industry. Gary has spent more than ten years working in Australia.
During this time, he worked primarily on private equity fund administration for both GPs and LPs. Before joining Augentius, Gary worked at multiple international financial institutions, including HSBC and JPMorgan.
Gary has a bachelor’s degree in Science and a master’s degree in Finance.
Gaurav manages the London Technical Team and is responsible for providing guidance and advice to internal teams and clients, across the world, on various technical aspects covering: accounting, limited partnership agreements and carried interest modelling. Gaurav is also responsible for managing the technical reviews and technical updates for internal teams and clients.
Gaurav has been with Augentius since 2007 and has progressed through the business in a number of roles within both Client Services and the Technical Team. During his career at Augentius he has managed a varied portfolio of fund types and structures such as fund of funds, property fund, buy-out fund, cleantech fund and special situations fund. Prior to joining Augentius, Gaurav trained as a Chartered Certified Accountant with a London-based accountancy practice where he was responsible for completion of statutory and management accounts and for completion of statutory audits.
Gaurav has over 12 years’ accounting experience covering over eight years in the fund administration and private equity industry and is an FCCA by qualification.
Managing Director, Channel Islands and Group Head of Corporate Governance
Gavin is one of the founders of Augentius. He has previously worked with Vector Asset Management (UK) Ltd and Man-Vector Ltd in the roles of Assistant Finance Officer, Senior Fund Administrator and Compliance Officer. In 2011 Gavin was appointed Managing Director, Channel Islands and Group Head of Corporate Governance, with responsibility for all aspects of regulated business, client relationship management and business development.
Gavin currently acts as a director of a number of offshore regulated and unregulated entities and has been appointed as deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer at Augentius Fund Administration (Guernsey) Limited and Augentius (Guernsey) Limited.
Gavin holds a BA (Hons) in Applied Economics from the University of East London.
Group Head of Technical, Training and Product Development
Giri joined as a Senior Accountant in 2007 and has subsequently had a number of roles within Augentius. Currently, he is our Group Head of Technical, Training and Product Development. Giri has over 19 years’ experience in audit, finance, private equity and real estate.
Before joining Augentius, Giri worked as an Audit Manager with KPMG in Sri Lanka and the Caribbean, followed by Deloitte in Guernsey. Throughout his career, Giri has gained invaluable experience having developed insight across banking investments, insurance, private equity and real estate.
Giri is qualified as a Chartered Accountant and is an associate member of ACA, ACMA & CGMA. He also sits on the management committee of the HTSA, a charitable organisation that has been teaching the Tamil language and fine arts to Asian children since 1987.
Executive Director, Investor Solutions
Having served five years in the British Army leaving as Captain, Hugh spent seven years at Augentius initially based in the London offices. Here he assisted in building up the Sales team for EMEA. Hugh then moved to Singapore as Managing Director of Asia where he built the firm’s operations in the region.
In 2013 Hugh joined an alternative investment manager based in Singapore, Vulpes Investment Management, as Managing Director. During his time he was responsible for all commercial activities as well as product development and corporate strategy.
Hugh has now re-joined Augentius as a member of the Executive Committee and Head of Augentius Investor Solutions. This division provides state of the art technology and expertize allowing sophisticated investors to access and turn data into formatted intelligence to accurately assess their portfolios and investments.
Group Chief Executive Officer
Ian is a financial services executive with over 18 years’ experience in the industry. Ian has been with Augentius since before its inception, originally joining Ansbacher Fund Services in 2002. Following the MBO of the business in 2006, he became Client Services Director, before being promoted to Chief Operating Officer (Europe). Ian was subsequently appointed as Group Head of Client Services and in November 2013 to the role of Group Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to joining Augentius, Ian spent four years at Northern Administration Limited as a Manager of Fund Accounting, creating systems to support and promote new business lines.
Ian graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Accountancy and Finance and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
Group Information Officer
James joined Augentius in 2005 as a Client Services Team Leader, being promoted to Head of Onshore Client Services in 2007. James was subsequently appointed to the Executive Team in 2012 and is now Group Information Officer, where he directs the planning and implementation of enterprise systems in support of business operations.
James joined Augentius from Foreign and Colonial Asset Management where he was a Senior Management Accountant. Previous to that, James was employed by Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie, for five years, as a Senior Accountant. James is ACMA qualified and has a BA (Hons) in Accounting.
IT Director and Group Information Security Officer
Jason, who is ITIL qualified, joined Augentius in 2007 as the Manager of our Information Technology department. He brings with him over 20 years’ experience in numerous IT disciplines gained in the Medical Marketing Research and Brewing industries. Having worked initially as a Software Developer and a Database Administrator, he progressed to IT Management where he led teams in rapidly-growing businesses.
Jason heads up our global IT team and, working together with our business management teams, drives the IT strategy, security and Augentius’ group-wide IT projects.
Director of Client Services, Belfast
John is the Director of Client Services in our Belfast office – he has almost 20 years’ experience working in the Financial Services industry. John has spent his entire career working specifically in the Fund Administration industry – mostly with alternative asset managers – servicing both private equity and hedge funds. John has both product management and operational experience and he joined Augentius from JPMorgan; where he was responsible for fund administration services to the organisation’s private equity and hedge fund clients across EMEA.
John has a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and French and was a member of the IFIA Alternative Funds sub-committee for a number of years while working in Dublin with JPMorgan.
Outside of work John devotes his time to family and, when he can, enjoys playing Golf.
Group Head of Sales
J.P. joined Augentius in 2002 as one of the founders of the business having previously been with the Bank of Bermuda Ltd and PwC in Bermuda and Canada. A Canadian-qualified accountant, J.P. was originally the Head of Client Services for Augentius before taking over the role of Group Head of Sales – responsible for teams in London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.
J.P. is married with two children and, being an avid sports fan, spends any spare time at Stamford Bridge, Twickenham or any sporting venue he can manage to attend.
Cash Monitoring Director, Depositary
Liam joined Augentius in April 2014 as a Cash Monitoring Officer for the Depositary, looking after the day-to-day cash flow monitoring of a portfolio of clients. In March 2015, Liam became Cash Monitoring Director with responsibility for managing all the cash monitoring operations in the Depositary.
Prior to joining Augentius, Liam worked within the Funds industry for over ten years, with seven years of this time spent working for Citco Fund Services within their hedge fund accounting business.
Lyndon Trott trained as an accountant in Guernsey and then in 1984 joined Guinness Mahon & Co. Ltd. (now part of Investec Bank) as Assistant Finance Director. In 1986 he moved to the bank’s treasury department, subsequently becoming the manager of its Guernsey treasury operation and specializing in proprietary foreign exchange trading.
In 2000 Lyndon was elected to the States of Guernsey for his first four-year term and became its then youngest member. In 2004 he became the island’s first Treasury and Resources Minister, (equivalent to Chancellor) a position he held until April 2008. In May 2008, Lyndon was elected Chief Minister of Guernsey (equivalent to Prime Minister), a position he held until 2012. In December 2015 he was appointed Chairman of Guernsey Finance, the organisation responsible for promoting Guernsey’s international Financial Services sector.
Lyndon was appointed a non-executive Director of Augentius in 2013.
Managing Director, Luxembourg
Malcolm joined Augentius in 2010 at the formation of Augentius’ Luxembourg office. He is an experienced industry and financial services professional with more than 25 years in the Financial Services sector.
Malcolm has been a resident in Luxembourg since 1999 where he has worked in a variety of operational management roles for JPMorgan and Citigroup. His experience lies within the provision of fund administration services including: fund accounting, transfer agency and custody operations for Luxembourg mutual and private equity and real estate funds.
Malcolm sits on the Boards of a number of Luxembourg-regulated and -unregulated entities.
Head of Programme Management Office
Margaret joined Augentius in 2011 having previously spent seven years working in Private Accounting Practice. Margaret originally worked in Client Services before moving to the Technical Team.
More recently, she has taken on the role of Head of Programme Management Office. She manages the team who are responsible for the delivery of a number of key, group-wide programs of work.
Margaret is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Business Development Director, EMEA
Mark is a Business Development Director in London. He re-joined Augentius in 2016, having previously worked in Augentius’ Guernsey office. He has over 15 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry, with ten years in the Private Equity sector.
Mark has a BSc in Geography from Nottingham University and previously worked for EY in the Financial Accounting and Advisory Services division, where he gained exposure to the world of offshore funds.
Outside of the office Mark is an avid golfer, reluctant runner and keen cook.
Mark has over thirty years’ experience in investing and guiding smaller-middle market companies in the UK. He has worked for BankBoston Capital since 1986 prior to co-founding Alcuin Capital Partners in 2004.
Mark became involved with Augentius in 2006 as a Non-Executive Director and has since worked together with the Executive Team guiding and helping the business. Mark is also the non-executive Treasurer of the London Library and is on the Board of The Friends of the National Libraries.
Director of Client Services
Nyasha joined Augentius in 2010 as a Client Services Accountant and progressed within the firm having had various roles in the Client Services team. He has previously worked for PwC, auditing similar structures and other alternative fund structures in the financial sector. Currently, Nyasha manages the Private Equity arm of the Client Services team in London. The types of funds covered are Credit/Debt funds, Buyout PE funds, Funds of Funds, Infrastructure funds and a wide spectrum of different structures with SPVs spanning across different jurisdictions.
Nyasha has over 14 years accounting experience, 10 of those within the Fund Administration, Hedge Funds and Private Equity industries, covering both audit and accounting. Nyasha is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 10 years post qualifying experience.
Outside of work, Nyasha is a dedicated father, a decent chess player and an avid golfer.
Compliance Officer, Depositary
Pat joined Augentius in 2013 having previously worked for a UK retail bank for over 32 years – primarily in Business Banking and Regulatory Compliance. Pat managed a team of compliance professionals responsible for the provision of advice on regulatory issues and was also the Bank’s Data Protection Officer.
Pat is currently the Compliance Officer of Augentius Depositary Company Limited and has a Certificate in Commercial Law and a master’s degree in Business Administration.
Pat is also a Trustee of a small charity based in Belfast called Family & Friends of Hannah Street, that helps individuals with learning disabilities.
Group Head of HR
Paula joined Augentius in June 2016 as Group Head of HR and has responsibility for implementation of a people strategy across all Augentius locations, supported by HR teams in Belfast, London and Manila.
Paula has over 20 years’ experience in Human Resources, the majority of which was spent working in Financial Services (Ulster Bank) where she undertook a number of senior HR roles including HR project management and business partnering. Paula has extensive experience in employee relations, reward & remuneration, business restructuring, organisation design, performance and talent management.
Paula has a post graduate diploma in Personnel Management and has achieved fellowship level with the Institute of Personnel & Development (FCIPD).
Business Development Director, EMEA
Roxane joined Augentius in 2010 as our Business Development Director dedicated to the European market.
Prior to Augentius, Roxane was part of the Business Development team of the SunGard (now FIS) Alternative Investments group, focusing on the Investran Private Equity software business. Before SunGard, Roxane moved to London to establish the London office of a French Consulting firm, Maltem Consulting Group.
Roxane holds a master’s degree in Management from Skema Business School in Sophia Antipolis, France.
Senior Technical Regulatory Manager
Sarmad joined Augentius in May 2012, after working as an Audit Manager for four years at PwC in the Channel Islands; with the previous six years spent fulfilling various roles working for EY.
Now a member of the Augentius Technical Team, Sarmad is responsible for analyzing and providing solutions to various accounting and regulatory queries – raised by both our clients and accounting teams. Sarmad has developed and currently heads up the Augentius’ AIFMD Reporter product. He is also involved in coordinating the Regulatory Committee which is responsible for analyzing all global regulatory developments and distributing relevant updates to clients and staff alike, through presentations and newsletters.
Sarmad is an ACA and also holds a master’s degree in Economics.
Business Analyst Team Manager
Simon Joined Augentius in 2007 having previously worked for a global magazine publishing firm.
Joining our Business Analyst Team, Simon was initially promoted to the lead for London before being further promoted to the Business Analyst Team Manager for global operations in 2012. He is responsible for teams in London, Belfast, New York, and Asia. Simon’s team of Business Analysts are responsible for internal and external client reporting, data extraction, manipulation and business intelligence reporting using a number of reporting and BI tools.
Outside of work Simon enjoys playing sports and spending time with his two young children.
Tony joined Augentius in 2011 having previously been head of IT for Toshiba Electronics (UK), Harte Hanks (UK) and Celona Technologies, and having provided IT consultancy services for several blue chip companies in London earlier in his career.
As the Infrastructure Manager at Augentius, Tony leads a team of infrastructure engineers responsible for the smooth running of all of Augentius’ global IT systems and services. Tony oversees the continual deployment of leading-edge technologies that securely and efficiently support the business as it continues to grow.
Tony has a master’s degree in Communication Engineering from the University of London and has attained several IT industry qualifications including MCSE and ITIL v3 Foundation. He has full member status of the BCS, IET (where he is a former committee chairman) and IEEE.
Outside of work, he collects and restores old computers in his spare time and satisfies his hunger for solving challenging puzzles; having been a member of Mensa since he was a teenager.
Business Development Director, Singapore
Sum joined Augentius in 2015 and is responsible for business development activities in Singapore and parts of South Asia. Prior to joining Augentius, Sum was in the Private Banking industry for eight years. Starting at Credit Suisse serving HNWI, family offices and boutique wealth managers, he then moved to Schroders Private Bank as an Investment Associate advising clients across various asset classes including: equity, fixed income, FX, structured products, mutual funds, hedge funds and private equity funds.
Sum holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance and Economics) from the University of Sydney and obtained his CACS 1 & 2, and CMFAS module 3 certifications from the Institute of Banking and Finance, Singapore. He also holds a “Certified Associate in Project Management” – CAPM designation.
Group Internal Audit Director
Umair joined Augentius in May 2010 as Audit and Compliance Manager, was promoted to Group Internal Audit and UK Compliance Manager in 2013 and to Group Internal Audit Director in March 2015.
Umair manages the Internal Audit function within the Group, independently and objectively assessing the risks and internal controls of Augentius’ global operations. Umair also sits on the Change Advisory Board (CAB) monitoring risks associated with proposed IT changes.
Prior to joining Augentius, Umair worked with KPMG and EY in the UK, Bermuda and the Middle East. Umair’s breadth of experience includes audit and advisory engagements for investment and Islamic banks, asset management firms, hedge funds, private equity, insurance, oil field services, manufacturing, real estate companies as well as the World Bank, UNDP and EC-funded projects.
Umair is a qualified chartered accountant and Fellow Member of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), Associate Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA) and a commerce graduate (B.Com).
Business Development Director, East Asia and Greater China
Vivian joined Augentius in 2015, further strengthening Augentius’ industry networks in the Greater China region, and driving the Group’s East Asia business forward. Vivian has strong experience working with various Greater China-based private equity and venture capital firms, primarily in deal-sourcing and investment valuation.
Previously an Assistant Sales Director at Thomson Reuters, Vivian has developed close relationships among investment and legal advisers in the region’s institutional investment community.
Native in both Mandarin and Cantonese, Vivian also speaks English and French, proficiently.
